Wired has short but cool article about these "tubular clouds" that form in Queensland every fall. Not sure if they mean Southern Hemisphere fall, or Northern Hemisphere fall. These long, crazy-looking clouds can grow to be 600 miles long and can move at up to 35 miles per hour, causing problems for aircraft even on windless days. Looks like the image is doctored. Take a look at the reflection of clouds on the wing..Don't see any tubes there!
