The Canadian Press is reporting that Porter is going to be having a “ceremonial announcement” on Monday to state to the press and public that the Island Airport “is being revitalized with additional jobs and flights.”

So who is invited?

The event Monday morning at the Toronto City Centre Airport will feature federal Finance Minister Jim Flaherty, Transport Minister John Baird, Ontario Economic Development Minister Michael Bryant, Toronto Port Authority chairman Mark McQueen, and Porter founder and CEO Robert Deluce, the airline said Thursday. It made no mention of Mayor David Miller.

Seems like Toronto Airways is on a PR/Marketing Blitz. They have updated their website with a Newsletter and a new Video.

This is the first ever edition of “Flight Lines” and according to Mr. Sifton, it will be a regular publication. I suspect once every six months.

CAR 401.05(2)(b) outlines the currency requirements for your night rating:

(b) where a passenger other than a flight test examiner designated by the Minister is carried on board the aircraft, has completed, within the six months preceding the flight,

If this wasn’t coming from CBC (disclaimer: I work for them) I would assume that this is an April Fools joke.

Guess not!

According to the company, the two-seat vehicle can take off and land at smaller airports, and the pilot can convert it to a roadworthy vehicle by retracting the wings from inside the cockpit in less than 30 seconds.

Neat!

I wonder what kind of logistical problems you would have driving your airplane on/off the airport.
